Its interesting that there were such drastic drops in spring of 2004 for PHP, C++, and Java, while at the same time Python enjoyed one of the sharpest spikes in popularity on the long term community index graph. Another thing that makes me (and probably us) feel good is that Pvote's open source voting machine software made the right choice to use python.
